Doves type found

Designer Emery Walker created Doves type in 1909 for his and Thomas Cobden-Sanderson’s Doves Press. Later, when the company failed, Cobden-Sanderson, who had commissioned the type, stood on Hammersmith Bridge and surreptitiously dropped the letters into the Thames, a few at a time.

Designer Robert Green, eager to recreate the font, decided to just look and see if any had survived.
